Vitamins help manage our body’s equilibrium.

There is some veracity to these foundational elements, of course, but does the media tend to over exaggerate on certain supplements more than others?

The FDA usually shies away from researching on natural remedies and for good reason; we just don’t know how many milligrams of each ingredient is measured inside the capsules.

According to the federal government’s 2020–2025 DGA, “Because foods provide an array of nutrients and other components that have benefits for health, nutritional needs should be met primarily through foods. … In some cases, fortified foods and dietary supplements are useful when it is not possible otherwise to meet needs for one or more nutrients (e.g., during specific life stages such as pregnancy.” (1)

Multivitamins taken as instructed can fill in temporary deficiencies you may have. It’s always best practice to consult your provider about any medications, including supplements. Providers can order bloodwork to identify any vitamins you may be lacking, then prescribe a more precise dosage, with follow – up blood test monitoring to gauge its effectiveness. (1)
